When we talk about sticker printing, “sticky” print is the easiest way to describe this unique product. This description was much shorter than Full Colour, Self-Adhesive, Removable, and Re-Positionable Fabric Prints (quite the mouthfull).

As we print stickers, each image is printed on our unique Non-reflective, Fabric paper in full colour and trimmed to the image for easy peeling and application on any smooth indoor surface. Each image can be easily removed at a later date by peeling the image off the wall and repositioning to another surface (over and over) or storing.

Big or small “sticky” prints can be used for many purposes, casual family photos, large decorative prints, indoor signage, labels, seasonal decor, you name it. “Sticky” prints can even be easily hand trimmed with normal scissors for unique wall applications (trimmed by end user) or cut unique custom corners on your rectangular images.

Application

1) Order your “sticky” print as like any product (upload image and complete order form)
2) When your sticky print arrives unroll and decide on area to apply
3) We do highly recommend putting a couple of marks on the wall at the top of the image with a bubble level (or laser level) as aligning the sticky print by eye when close to the wall is challanging.
4) It is always best to give the surface a quick wipe making sure it is free of dust, grease, and moisture.
5) If you are hand trimming your sticky print now is the time to do it (carefully to avoid any white unprinted area to show)
6) Now is the time to remove any jewelry as you will be using your hands to smooth and apply the sticky print (rings can scratch the surface as you apply)
7) Peel back the first 4″-6″ and crease the backing paper flat.
8) Align the top of the sticky print with the level marks made earlier and use your hands to smooth the top portion to the wall from the middle to the corners.
9) Peel back approx 6″-8″ of the backing paper downward and smooth as in step 7 (from the middle down and out)
10) Keep doing so until the paper backing is total removed and your sticky print is installed (make sure to keep the backing paper if you plan on storing your sticky print later)

Sticky prints will NOT curl if you remove the backing paper all at once (peel and stick method). They will also NOT curl when removing them from the wall to reposition.
If you have any problems with the above steps remember that they are removable and repositionable, so it is fairly easy to adjust your installation.

Most of all have fun with our “sticky” prints.

Even as disaster response teams begins to embrace smaller format devices that make operations more flexible and mobile, large format printing still plays an important role in how the public sector responds to emergency situations. So says Santiago Morera, the Vice President & General Manager of Hewlett Packard’s large format printing business.

The earthquake that hit Sichuan, China in May 2008 called for accurate geographical data to be printed on large specialized maps – and printed quickly, Morera explained in an interview with FutureGov at the recent Disaster Management Response & Recovery Forum.

“It was critical that we provided highly detailed satellite maps at short notice. The technology ensured that large maps could be printed 24-hours a day without the need for human intervention. This helped make the response to Sichuan faster and more efficient,” he said. However, Morera admitted that the rise of smaller format and visualisation technology could pose challenges for the sector.

“We have been spending a lot of time thinking about the future and the relevance of large format printing. But I am convinced from my conversations with our key customers in the public sector that large format will continue to play a crucial role for the military, town planners, utilities and, increasingly, other sectors too.” Morera said that while last year’s global economy downturn has been “tough” for HP as it has been for other tech firms, demand for large format printing from the public sector has remained stable, driven by government economic stimulus packages.

“We have seen increased investment in infrastructure driven by the economic crisis. The rise in construction, particularly in Asia, as a result of economic stimulus programmes has led to greater demand for maps and charts needed to build bridges, roads and buildings,” he said.

The civil engineering sector in India and Australia’s mining industry have been two of HP’s key growth areas this year. However, despite 60 per cent of HP’s large format business coming from the public sector, Morera admitted that there was work to do to convince civil servants that large format printers are worth their perceived high price-tag.

“Even though new technology like ours is driving efficiencies and productivity, there is a perception that it is prohibitively expensive. People used to think one machine would cost upwards of US$20,000 when actually you can buy one for less than US$1000.” The falling cost of printing technology has meant that it is becoming accessible to smaller, local government agencies,” said Morera.

Morera also contended with the notion that large format printing was at odds with a public sector under pressure to go green. “The big advantage with digitising print workflows is that you can print only what you need, which saves you money, energy and trees,” he said

Stickers are more than a gimmick to keep children amused. Used as labels, stickers can also be an effective way of advertising and organising products and office supplies. Sticker printing has come a long way in recent years with attractive designs and bold colours that help your brand stand out. Some labels are produced with water and UV resistant adhesives making them ideal for outdoor use as well.

Types of stickers Before you go ahead with the design and print take some time to think about how the stickers will be used and have a look at the different types of stickers available. If you are using the stickers as give away items for a promotional campaign identify your targeted audience. As children’s gifts you will want the stickers to be colourful and with a minimum of text. While as a business promotion a more subtle approach may be called for and designs that are basic but striking with the use of colours and designs.

Colours and designs The use of colours and designs with your stickers can make all the difference between stickers that look like all the others and one that stands out from the rest. Two colour tones can have a dramatic effect such as black on white or red and blue. If the budget allows, four colour prints give the sticker a dramatic and vibrant look.

Size and shapes Local printers and online printing companies are open to variations of the standard printing size and shapes of stickers. Simply request your specifications in the initial order. Stickers can range in size for mailing addresses to be included on the back of envelopes to bumper stickers for cars so there are many options to choose from.

Where to go to get your labels printed Researching the right colour brochure printing services might be seen as the first approach in having stickers professionally printed. Source a local printer if they are close by and can do the work within your deadlines. Search for a printer online and take advantage of the special offers for bulk printing and second print runs. Online printers are working within a competitive market so are more likely to product quality results within your time frame and will even provide free or low cost delivery to major centres.

You may be using the stickers for use within your store to label products or as a way of introducing some organisation into your office. Basic black printing on a white background will work well or have the background colour coded for different areas.

What ever the reason for using stickers, make sure they are well presented and use quality materials to give a professional finish. Be creative with designs and the use of colours for an effective marketing campaign.
